Rochester recycling plant finds human baby remains, investigation underway

ROCHESTER — Police are investigating after employees at the Harvey Waste recycling facility on Cranberry Highway discovered what appeared to be the remains of a human baby among the recycling products this morning.

The grim discovery was reported to Rochester dispatch at approximately 10:40 a.m. following a 911 call from the facility.

According to the call, workers at the plant found the body while processing recycled materials.

The facility immediately ceased operations to allow for a thorough investigation.

Local law enforcement, including the Rochester Police and State Police, are on the scene, working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As the investigation is ongoing, authorities have not released additional details regarding the discovery.

Officials are expected to provide updates as new information emerges and the investigation progresses.
