Fatal single-vehicle crash in Rochester under investigation

ROCHESTER — A passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident on Salmon Falls Road late last night, according to Rochester Police.

Emergency services, including Rochester Police, Fire, and Frisbie EMS, were called to the vicinity of Ida Circle and Tara Estates at approximately 8:45 p.m. following reports of the crash.

On arrival, they found a single vehicle involved, with one unresponsive passenger who was later determined to have died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Salmon Falls Road was closed for several hours as emergency personnel worked at the scene, with traffic being diverted.

The area has since been reopened.

The vehicle had two other passengers, who officials reported did not sustain serious injuries.

The Strafford County Regional Technical Accident Reconstruction Team is aiding Rochester Police in the investigation into the cause of the accident, which remains ongoing.

Authorities have not released the names of the vehicle’s occupants, pending notification of next of kin.

Police have stated that more details will be released as they become available.
