GROTON — A local woman was arrested Tuesday night on charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest after police found her driving erratically on Route 302.

Brigette Elliot, 35, of Topsham, was taken into custody around 9:41 p.m. after Vermont State Police were alerted to a possible intoxicated driver.

Troopers en route to the scene spotted Elliot’s vehicle swerving and failing to maintain its lane.

During the traffic stop, officers noted signs of impairment and attempted to arrest Elliot.

Authorities said she resisted arrest at that time.

Elliot was processed at the St. Johnsbury State Police Barracks and later transferred to the custody of the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury.

The incident is under further investigation by Vermont State Police.
