Man arrested for negligent operation, excessive speed in Westminster

WESTMINSTER –– A 48-year-old New Hampshire man was arrested Sunday after allegedly driving more than 35 mph over the speed limit on Interstate 91, according to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Norton said Charles P. Putnam of Canaan, NH, was pulled over at mile marker 29.4 at approximately 4:56 p.m. after deputies clocked his vehicle traveling 101 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Putnam was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and excessive speed.

Following his arrest, Putnam was released with a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division.

He was also issued a civil speeding ticket.

Putnam is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 26.
