Driver charged with illegal night hunting in Londonderry

LONDONDERRY –– District 5 Conservation Officers worked late into the night to apprehend a driver suspected of illegal night hunting.

The officers responded to a tip from a concerned sportsman and at around 11 p.m., they observed a vehicle pulling into an apple orchard and illuminating the area with a spotlight.

In collaboration with the Londonderry Police Department, the officers managed to halt the vehicle.

The driver is now facing charges of illegal night hunting, having a cocked crossbow in a motor vehicle, and not having a name on bolts.

The identities of the driver and the sportsman who provided the tip have not been released.

Further details on the charges or potential penalties were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
