Vernon man held without bail on sexual assault charges

VERNON –– A 77-year-old local resident, Norman R. Mallory, is currently being held without bail after facing sexual assault charges, according to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 31, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of the alleged assault.

Probable cause was developed leading to the charges against Mallory, of Vernon.

Mallory was subsequently located at his residence and taken into custody by deputies on November 3.

Det. Sgt. Mario Checchi, who led the investigation, confirmed that Mallory was ordered to be held without bail.

He is further ordered to appear in the Superior Court of Vermont-Criminal Division-Windham Unit on November 6 at 12:30 p.m.

Following his arrest, Mallory was remanded to the Southern State Correctional Facility.

Further details about the case have not been released, pending the court proceedings.
