Driver charged after clocked doing 90 mph in Barre

BARRE — A 53-year-old man from Montpelier was cited following an incident in Barre today.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop after observing a motor vehicle traveling over 90 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone on Vermont Route 62/Barre City line at around 3:30 p.m.

Police made contact with the driver who identified himself as Matthew Franzen.

He was released on a citation for excessive speed and negligent operation and is scheduled to appear in court on November 30.
