St Johnsbury man arrested for petit larceny, resisting arrest

ST. JOHNSBURY –– A local man was arrested for stealing from a vehicle and resisting arrest on Thursday, according to St Johnsbury Police.

Benjamin T. Heath, 33, was taken into custody around 1:15 p.m., after police responded to a call about a purse theft from a vehicle parked near Subway on Federal Street.

Detective Sgt. Lester Cleary said the police were alerted to the incident when a neighbor, who witnessed the crime, snapped photos of the suspect and contacted police at about 12:35 p.m.

The photos led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Heath.

Despite initial resistance, Heath was eventually apprehended and is slated to appear in Caledonia court on November 13, answering charges of petit larceny from a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
