Man arrested for assault in Groton

GROTON — A 59-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault following an incident in Groton today.

Authorities say they were notified of a disturbance on the Old Railroad Bed, near the Welton Road access point, at around 1:50 p.m.

Police say they found Donald Pinette, of Groton, and Brent Abare, 59, of Groton, were the parties involved in a verbal and physical altercation.

As a result of the investigation, Abare was cited for disorderly conduct and Pinette was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

He was transported to the Vermont State Police’s Bradford Outpost for processing.

At the conclusion of the processing, Pinette was issued and released on court-ordered conditions of release.

Police say both Pinette and Abare were ordered to appear in court today to answer to the charges.
