Single-vehicle crash in New Haven leads to vehicle fire

NEW HAVEN — A vehicle fire broke out in New Haven today.

The crash took place on River Road at around 12:20 a.m.

Police identified the driver as an 18-year-old resident of Middlebury.

Police say that LaPre was traveling west on River Road when he lost control of his vehicle, left the road, and hit a tree head-on.

LaPre sustained injuries and was able to exit the vehicle prior to it becoming engulfed in flames.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by members of Bristol Rescue Squad and the New Haven Fire Department.
