Fatal single-car crash reported in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH –– A single-car crash on Sunday that sent a vehicle down an embankment and into a utility pole resulted in the death of the driver, according to the Plymouth Police Department.

The incident occurred around 11:11 a.m. near 646 Tenney Mountain Highway.

First responders found a 2009 Dodge SUV that had drifted off the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and struck a utility pole.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was transported to Speare Memorial Hospital by Plymouth Fire-Rescue but was later pronounced deceased.

The Plymouth Police Department is withholding the driver’s name until next of kin can be notified.

The Plymouth State University Police Department and the Plymouth Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Chief of Police Alexander Hutchins thanked the assisting departments for their help at the scene.
