Lyndonville police investigate serious crash, seek information

LYNDONVILLE –– A car crash on Mathewson Hill Road resulted in serious injuries and an ongoing investigation by local police, according to a statement from the Lyndonville Police Department.

The crash, which occurred at 2:09 p.m. on Sept. 22, involved a vehicle that had veered off the road and into a tree. Upon arrival, officers found three occupants at the scene.

The unidentified driver had fled before police arrived, according to one of the passengers.

Passengers Richard Cole, 37, of St. Johnsbury, and Munroe Gilman, 92, of Lyndon, were transported to NVRH with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The third occupant, Jason Gilman, 45, also of Lyndon, left the scene on foot.

Officer Gerrish of the Lyndonville Police Department collected evidence from the totaled vehicle before it was towed away.

The crash is still under active investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Lyndonville Police Department at 802-626-1271.
