Fire in Vernon under investigation

VERNON — Police are investigating a fire that broke out in Vernon on Wednesday.

Authorities were notified of a fire on Broad Brook Road at around 4:00 p.m.

Police say the structure was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Fire suppression efforts were conducted.

There were no injuries reported.

As part of Vernon Fire Chief Alex Dunklee’s assessment of the fire, he contacted the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit for assistance in determining the origin and cause of the fire.

FEIU members responded to Vernon and conducted a scene examination.

Police say the cause of the fire is under investigation and is undetermined at this time.

The structure sustained extensive damage from fire, heat, and smoke.

An accurate damage estimate is not available.
