NEWPORT –– The Memphremagog Arts Collaborative and the North Country Quilters Guild are teaming up to host a joint quilt exhibit, “Hanging by Threads,” opening on Friday, October 20, from 5-7 pm at the 158 Main Street gallery in Newport. The exhibit, running through Saturday, December 30, aims to raise funds for the MAC Scholarship Fund to benefit a Fine Arts student, with proceeds from a raffle of a quilt made by the late Carolyn Ferrara.

Ferrara, a former member of both the MAC and North Country Quilters, was known for her community involvement and generosity with her quilting projects.

“Carolyn taught at several area elementary schools and was always interested in community affairs,” said Steve Card, board chair of MAC. “Following her retirement, she served on the local board of the VSO and volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem with Family Court.”

Raffle tickets for the Ferrara quilt are available at MAC Center for the Arts. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 802.334.1966, or visit www.maccenterforthearts.com.
