HUDSON –– Two individuals were arrested by Hudson police on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, following an investigation into a burglary at The Great Eagle Motel, located at 2 Sullivan Road.

Police responded to the motel at approximately 2:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a past burglary.

The initial investigation revealed that a forced entry had been made into a vacant unit around 5 a.m. Officers quickly identified two suspects, a man and a woman, believed to be involved in the burglary.

Throughout the day, the Hudson Police Department received further calls reporting suspicious activity in the area linked to the same individuals.

At around 6:30 p.m., officers were alerted to suspicious activity at 3 Sullivan Road involving a man who matched the description of the earlier reported suspect.

Upon arrival, officers noted that the property appeared to be secured from the inside and seemed abandoned.

However, upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspects were still inside, attempting to avoid police detection.

Officers entered the property and found Christopher Mahoney, born Mar. 2, 1979, and Jill Cotter, born Nov. 14, 1980, barricading themselves in the basement.

Both suspects were arrested without incident.

Mahoney and Cotter have been charged with two counts of felony burglary each. Following their arrests, they were transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections.

They are due to be arraigned at the Hillsborough County Superior Court on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
