Nashua firefighters respond to couch fire in residential building

NASHUA –– Firefighters responded to a call about smoke coming from a building on Sargent Avenue at 6:46 p.m. on August 26, and discovered a couch on fire.

The Nashua Fire Rescue dispatch center received the report from a motorist who noticed the smoke from the building at 30 Sargent Ave.

Ladder Company 1 was the first to respond to the scene, finding light smoke emanating from the first floor of the three-story residential building.

The firefighters entered through the front door and located a small couch fire in the left front living room, which they were able to extinguish using an APW fire extinguisher.

The fire was brought under control within minutes, thanks to the quick response of the Nashua Fire Rescue team.

Engine Company 1 conducted a search of the building where they found the owner and only occupant on the third floor.

The team assisted her in safely exiting the building.

The residence sustained minor damage due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office.
