Single-vehicle crash takes out utility pole in Derby

DERBY — A 26-year-old man from Brownington was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Derby yesterday.

The crash took place on Vermont Route 105 at around 10:05 p.m.

According to the report, a vehicle drove off the road, hit and snapped a utility pole.

The driver was identified as Zachary Locke-Fortin.

Locke-Fortin sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was driven to North Country Hospital by a relative in a separate vehicle.

Police say that Locke-Fortin was traveling east on Vermont Route 105 when he lost control of his vehicle trying to navigate a slight bend.

The vehicle traveled off the road to the left, overturned, and hit a utility pole before coming to final rest.

Vermont Electric and Wrights Towing responded to assist.
