Man arrested for DUI, domestic assault in Townshend

TOWNSHEND — A 27-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Townshend yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a domestic assault on Riverdale Road at around 11:05 p.m.

Following an investigation, police allege that Andrew Powell, of Townshend, had assaulted a household or family member.

Police say he also interfered with the victim’s access to emergency services and violated his active conditions.

Troopers also observed signs of impairment after Powell had operated a motor vehicle.

He was arrested for suspicion of DUI, domestic assault, interference with emergency services, and violation of conditions.

He was processed at the Westminster State Police barracks and released with a citation to appear in court today.
