BETHEL — A 37-year-old woman from California was arrested following an incident in Bethel yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a wrong-way driver on I-89 near the exit 4 area at around 11:15 p.m.

As VSP units neared the location, they met the vehicle near mile marker 25.

Police say they deployed a tire deflation device to aid in the investigation.

A successful spike was made which aided in the resolution of this case.

At the time of the incident heavy rain was falling and traffic levels were low.

The driver was identified as Rachael E. Emerlye, of Goleta, California.

Police say indicators of alcohol impairment were present and Emerlye was arrested for gross negligent operation, DUI, and reckless endangerment.
