Driver charged after clocked doing 96 mph in Salisbury

SALISBURY — A 50-year-old man from Rutland was cited for excessive speeding in Salisbury today.

Police say they were conducting speed enforcement near the intersection of US Route 7 and West Salisbury Road at around 2:40 p.m.

Police say they observed a red SUV traveling north, passing another vehicle on US Route 7, in excess of the speed limit.

The sedan was clocked traveling 96 miles-per-hour in a 50 miles-per-hour zone.

The SUV was stopped without incident and the driver was identified as Brett Woodard.

Woodard was issued a citation to appear in court for the offense at a later date.
