Fatal collision on Ethan Allen Highway in Ferrisburgh

FERRISBURGH — A fatal collision on Ethan Allen Highway in Ferrisburgh in the early hours yesterday prompted an emergency response and an ongoing investigation.

At approximately 12:12 a.m., the Vermont State Police were dispatched to the scene where a 2012 Subaru Impreza, traveling south, had entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2016 Volvo VNL tractor trailer traveling north.

The Subaru caught fire which spread to the trailer of the Volvo, causing a total loss of the empty kegs it was transporting.

The Subaru operator, whose name will be released later pending notification to next of kin, suffered fatal injuries.

The Volvo operator, Djordje Radovic, 63, of Patterson, NJ, was uninjured.

The highway was closed for investigation and cleanup.

The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Ferrisburgh Fire Department & Rescue, Vergennes Fire Department & Rescue, The Vermont Hazmat Team, and DMV Police.
