Dump truck crashes into telephone pole in Swanton

SWANTON — A dump truck crashed into a telephone pole in Swanton on Saturday afternoon, according to Vermont State Police.

The crash occurred on Vermont Route 207 by Glen Ridge Lane at approximately 12:58 p.m.

The dump truck, a Ford F-550, caught the edge of the road and went off the road, striking the pole and splitting it completely in two.

The operator of the truck, identified as Darren Couture, 58, of Franklin, reported swerving to avoid an animal that ran across the road.

There were no injuries reported.

The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle and disrupted traffic in the area for a time while the situation was attended to.

The Vermont State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
