Vermont wardens investigate illegal shooting of pregnant doe in Pomfret

POMFRET — The Vermont Warden Service is investigating the illegal shooting of an adult female deer that was found to be pregnant with twin fawns.

Game wardens responded to reports of the out-of-season shooting on Cloudland Road in Pomfret on April 26.

The doe was found alive but was euthanized due to its injuries, the warden service said in a statement.

As the investigation continues, the warden service is asking the public for any information on this incident.

Illegal hunting carries fines and other penalties, including the possibility of jail time.
