Two arrested after traffic stop in Leicester

LEICESTER — Two people were arrested following an incident in Leicester yesterday.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on US Route 7, near the intersection with Fern Lake Road, after observing a motor vehicle violation at around 10:05 p.m.

The driver was identified as David R. Farnham, 43, of Rutland City.

At that time, Farnham’s license was criminally suspended in the State of Vermont.

Police identified the passenger of the vehicle as Christopher L. Herring, 42, of Rutland City.

Herring was placed under arrest for an active arrest warrant for the offense of grand larceny.

He was transported to Marble Valley Correctional Facility where he was lodged.

While speaking with Farnham, police say they detected indicators of impairment.

He was screened, placed under arrest, and transported to Porter Medical Center to be evaluated after a medical incident.

At the conclusion of processing, Farnham was released with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
