Canadian man caught driving 93 mph on Route 7 in New Haven

NEW HAVEN — A Canadian man was caught driving 43 mph over the speed limit in New Haven.

The Vermont State Police were conducting speed enforcement near the intersection of US Route 7 and Dog Team Road today.

They observed a black sedan traveling south on US Route 7 in excess of the speed limit.

Troopers confirmed via radar that the sedan was traveling 93 mph in a 50 mph zone.

Theodore Cristea, 48, of Montreal, Canada, was identified as the driver and was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court for the offense of Excessive Speed at a later date.

Cristea was also issued a VCVC for speed under Title 23 VSA 1081(b) which upon conviction carries a penalty of 2 points and a waiver amount of $641.
