Police investigating after large diesel fuel spill in Cavendish

CAVENDISH — Police are investigating a large diesel fuel spill that took place in Cavendish on Friday.

The incident occurred at the town garage on Main Street at around 6:25 p.m.

The gas pump was left running until Saturday.

According to the report, over 100 gallons of fuel had spilled into the ground and river.

The hazmat team was called to handle the spill.

Police say it is unknown who is responsible for this incident at this time.

However, an individual was seen driving a white box truck, possibly an older model Ford OBS, at the scene the night of the incident.
