Fatal crash in Hinsdale

HINSDALE — A 21-year-old man from New Hampshire was killed during a crash in Hinsdale yesterday.

The crash took place on Route 119, just south of Runnings, near the Vermont state line, at around 6:50 p.m.

According to the report, Hinsdale Police officers were in the area for an unrelated incident when an officer observed a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta traveling at a high rate of speed and operating erratically while traveling west towards Vermont.

The vehicle then reversed direction and continued back east crossing into the westbound lane and colliding head-on with a 1999 Jeep Wrangler.

The Volkswagen Jetta was occupied by Dylan Morse, of Winchester, NH, and Teasha Kristolaitis, 21, of Winchester, NH.

Morse and Kristolaitis were transported by ambulance to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say passanger Richard Miner, 24, of Greenfield, MA was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jeep was driven by Arthur Oefinger, 59, of Hinsdale, NH.

Oefinger was transported by ambulance to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Route 119 was closed for approximately 7 hours while responders documented and cleared the scene.

Police say they are still investigating the crash.
