Two-vehicle crash with injuries in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in Westmoreland on Saturday.

The crash took place on New Hampshire Route 12, near Aldrich Road, at around 4:40 p.m.

According to the report, a brown 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Katey L. Young, 34, of Walpole, NH, was traveling north behind a red 2004 Chevy 1500 pick-up truck driven by Marshall C. Carrier, 17, of Claremont, NH.

Young attempted to pass Carrier and their vehicles collided, causing Young to lose control and drive off the southside of the road.

Young struck an embankment, causing her vehicle to roll over onto its roof.

Carrier also lost control of his vehicle and it sustained disabling damage from the collision with Young’s vehicle.

Young was transported by ambulance to the Cheshire Medical Center with a serious injuries.

Police say Carrier was uninjured during the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, and it is being treated as a road rage incident.

One lane of New Hampshire Route 12 remained open for most of the investigation, but the entire roadway eventually had to be shut down for several minutes while Young’s vehicle was removed from the scene.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Westmoreland Fire Department, the Keene Ambulance, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
