Investigation underway after man found dead in Jay

JAY – The Vermont State Police are investigating the death of a 27-year-old man whose body was found off the side of the road near the intersection of Gendron and Pine Grove roads in Jay, on Tuesday evening.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

At approximately 5:55 p.m., the victim was discovered with no immediate signs of trauma on his body.

The body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and involves several agencies.

Investigators would especially like to speak with anyone who drove through the area prior to the discovery of the body or who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area.
