LYNDON – Sharey Rice, a 48-year-old resident of St. Johnsbury, was cited for excessive speed and negligent operation yesterday.

The incident took place on Lynburke Road.

Police say she was driving 77 mph in a 50 mph zone.

Officer Jason Harris was monitoring traffic when he observed Rice’s black Buick traveling north towards Burke at a high rate of speed.

Harris attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but was not able to do so until it turned onto Calendar Brook Road.

At that point, Harris was traveling in excess of 85 mph with his blue lights on, as Rice continued to pull away.

Rice was eventually pulled over just north of the Lyndon/Burke town line.
