Elderly driver killed in head-on collision in Swanzey

SWANZEY – A serious motor vehicle crash on Route 10 in the area of Sawyers Crossing Road claimed the life of an 81-year-old Swanzey resident on Monday morning.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, Leslie C. Keeton was driving a 2019 GMC Acadia southbound when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2019 Kia Sorento traveling northbound, operated by 41-year-old Jocelyn L. Shelley-Blanchard, also of Swanzey.

Both drivers were transported to Cheshire Medical Center, where Keeton was pronounced dead.

Shelley-Blanchard sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while an infant passenger in the Kia Sorento was uninjured.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m. and prompted the closure of Route 10 for several hours while the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Unit documented the scene.

The Swanzey Police Department, Swanzey Fire Department, DiLuzio Ambulance, and New Hampshire Department of Transportation also assisted on the scene.
