Bethel woman arrested for DUI, eluding police

SHARON – A 61-year-old Bethel woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and eluding a police officer today, after a report of a female driver slumped over a steering wheel at a stop sign in Sharon.

According to the Vermont State Police, troopers responded to the scene and attempted to stop the vehicle as it entered Interstate 89.

The vehicle was swerving all over the roadway and failed to stop until exit three.

The driver, identified as Lisa T Uchima, was transported to the Royalton Barracks for processing and later released on citation.

She was also charged with negligent operation.

The incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. and was reported to VSP Royalton.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
