Man arrested for DUI, unlawful mischief in South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON — A 22-year-old man from Alburg was arrested following an incident in South Burlington yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a vehicle that was attempting to reverse back down the off-ramp of I-89 south at around 8:10 p.m.

Responding troopers located the vehicle and identified its driver as Benjamin Deyo.

Police say Deyo exhibited multiple indicators of impairment and after a roadside investigation was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

He was transported to the Williston State Police barracks for processing, during which he made overt attempts to cause damage to State Police property.

At the conclusion of processing, he was transported to Northwest State Correctional Facility for detox.

During transport, he continued to attempt to cause damage to additional State Police property.

He is due to appear in court at a later date and time to answer to the charges of DUI #1, and unlawful mischief.
