St. Albans man accused of kidnapping, tying victim to chair

ST. ALBANS — 32-year-old Edward Bennett Jr., of St. Albans, was arrested this week after allegedly forcing his way into a victim’s home and assaulting them.

Police say that during the incident, Bennett held them at gunpoint, stabbed them, and fired a shotgun into the ceiling of the home before tying the victim to a chair for an extended period and threatening them.

Bennett’s arrest followed a few days later, and he is currently being held at the Northwest Correctional Facility on separate charges.

The St. Albans police conducted a search of a home on Thursday for more evidence, where they found firearms and drugs.

Bennett will be cited for a slew of charges, including:

First-degree aggravated domestic assault, domestic assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal threatening, interference with access to emergency services, petit larceny, and unlawful mischief.
