Driver charged after clocked doing 108 mph in Fairfax

FAIRFAX — A 19-year-old woman from Highgate Center was cited for negligent operation following an incident in Fairfax yesterday.

Police say they observed a vehicle traveling south at a high rate of speed on I-89 at around 3:45 p.m.

The vehicle was captured on radar traveling 108 miles-per-hour in an area of highway posted at 65 miles-per-hour.

As the trooper was catching up to the motor vehicle, it was observed driving aggressively by following unreasonably close to other motorists and making sudden lane changes.

A traffic stop was conducted of the vehicle in Milton.

The driver was identified as Emma Chevalier.

Chevalier was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint in the amount of $641 as well as a criminal citation to appear in court to answer the charge.
