MORGAN — The Eli Goss Memorial Fund is preparing for its thirteenth Annual Ice Fishing Tournament, to be held February 17th-19th.

The Tournament Planning Committee is expecting another record turnout, as social media response continues to climb.

The main event is held on Seymour Lake every year, with registration, weigh-in, free food and special events all weekend long.

The competition includes Seymour Lake, Echo Lake and Lake Memphremagog, fishing for all legal species, with separate categories for adult and youth on Seymour and Echo and adult and youth on Memphremagog.

Pike has its own category.

Another custom made ice shack has been built for the event and will be raffled off at the closing ceremonies on Sunday.

Registration runs from 7:33 am Friday until 1:33 pm Saturday.

$20 or kind donation gets you in the competition, including one raffle ticket to win the ice shack.

Registration is in person at the Seymour Lake Fishing access.

Pre-registration information to be announced on our facebook page.

The last fish in is by 1:33 pm on Sunday, followed by a free lunch, fun family games, prizes, raffles, silent auction and awards ceremony.

A cash prize for first place winners, Eli trophy bomber hats, and prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded to all fishermen who place.

You can follow the Tournament as it unfolds on Facebook.

The Eli Goss Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament was created in 2010 in honor of Eli Goss who lost his life in a vehicle accident his senior year at United Christian Academy.

A small group of friends and a student forum at NCUHS held the event in honor of their friend and to raise scholarships for Eli’s classmates.

In years to follow the Eli Fund soon expanded its efforts to include scholarships for both UCA and NCUHS.

Since the tournament’s creation in 2011, 97 scholarships, totaling over $66,300 have been awarded to graduates of UCA and NCUHS to help students follow their dreams.

Eli Goss Scholarships are awarded to students who balance academics with sports, after school jobs, community involvement and compassion for family and friends.

Funding for scholarship comes in large part from sponsorship from local businesses and families, tournament hoodie sales, fishing registration and proceeds from raffles and silent auction.

The 2023 Eli Goss Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament proudly represents 47 sponsors.
