HYDE PARK — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Hyde Park yesterday.

The crash took place on Route 100 at around 2:10 p.m.

According to the report, Terry Melton, 35, of Johnson, was traveling south and Michelle Archer, 31, of Hyde Park, was passing the Fire Department prior to the crash.

The trooper slowed and activated the emergency lights on the cruiser and pulled near the shoulder in order to execute a u-turn in order to assist the deputy sheriff conducting the stop.

While the emergency lights were activated, the cruiser started executing the turn while Melton approached from the rear and attempted to pass the fully marked cruiser with emergency lights illuminated by crossing the center double line.

Melton contacted the cruiser in the driver side doors and rear quarter panel.

Both vehicles then came to rest in the northbound lane.

Police say both drivers and a passenger were checked and cleared by medical staff on scene and both vehicles were towed.

Police are still investigating the crash.
