Police: Manchester convict back in custody

MANCHESTER — Joseph Balestier, 21, was arrested Wednesday in Pennsylvania after escaping the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester on Monday.

Balestier failed to return to the housing unit and was placed on escape status.

He pled guilty to burglary, criminal threatening with a firearm, and felonious use of a firearm charges in 2020.

Balestier was arrested in Pennsylvania on charges of false report to law enforcement, obstructing the administration of law, false identification to law enforcement, unlicensed driver, expired registration, and being a fugitive of justice.

He will remain in the Pennsylvania pending the new charges.

He is expected to be extradited to New Hampshire following those proceedings.
