ST. JOHNSBURY — A 39-year-old man was arrested in St. Johnsbury yesterday.

Authorities say they were conducting an investigation of an abandoned vehicle along US 5 in the area of 664 Memorial Drive at around 10:25 p.m.

Several individuals seen inside the vehicle exited and fled the scene on foot when troopers approached.

During the investigation, police say they identified one of the individuals to be Wade Whitehouse, of St. Johnsbury.

Police say that Whitehouse was actively violating court-ordered conditions of release.

Whitehouse was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks.

He received a citation to appear in court on February 6.

He was later released to medical staff who transported him to Northern Vermont Regional Hospital for further medical observation.
