Snowmobiler seriously injured in Essex County

LEWIS — A snowmobiler was seriously injured during a crash on VAST trail 102A in Lewis on Friday.

Emergency responders were advised that the snowmobiler did not have feeling in his legs and would need to be extricated.

According to the report, 55-year-old John Maroney of Watertown, CT, was found face down in a stream and complaining of neck pain.

Witnesses at the scene said the snowmobile left the groomed portion of the trail and went into the stream ravine.

He was transported by 45th Parallel EMS to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, NH, for further evaluation and treatment.
