Man facing attempted murder charges after burglary in Barton

BARTON — Police say a shooting in Walden on Thursday is connected to a burglary that took place earlier that day in Barton.

Troopers were notified of the shooting incident on Cobb Road at around 11:50 p.m.

Police say 30-year-old Chip Schneider fired a handgun multiple times into a vehicle occupied by Dylan Cady, 30, of Barton.

Investigators say the dispute is believed to have been over a burglary earlier in the day on High Street in Barton, where Cady is listed in the report as the victim.

Police allege that Schneider and Michael Buck, 30, of St. Johnsbury, were responsible for the break-in.

Schneider was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and burglary.

He was lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Center and held without bail.

Buck was located in Saint Johnsbury and taken into custody and lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility as well.
