NEWPORT — The Newport man who used his tractor like a monster truck, destroying seven police vehicles back in 2012, is in trouble with the law again, this time facing charges of criminal threatening.

On Tuesday, police say they received a report that 41-year-old Roger Pion had made a post on Facebook threatening to kill multiple members of his distant family.

“Investigation revealed Pion had posted a list on Facebook identifying a number of family members who he wished to inflict serious bodily harm or death,” a statement issued by Trooper Paul Pennoyer reads.

Pion was placed under arrest and transported to the Vermont State Police Derby barracks for processing.

He was arraigned in court today and remanded into state custody.

  1. Let me get this straight… he post a death threat and he’s in jail but someone in jail gets death threats on the state’s attorney’s page and that’s ok?! Citizens can we say double standards?
