Financing forum for entrepreneurs March 22 in Newport

NEWPORT — Members from the private and government sector are hosting a public forum about small business financing for local entrepreneurs from 1 to 3 p.m. March 22 on the second floor of the Emory Hebard State Building located at 100 Main Street in Newport.

Topics include traditional lending, microloans, government guarantees and more. The financing forum is sponsored by the Northeastern Vermont Development Association with assistance from the SBA.

“Whether you are looking to start a small business or are in business, this is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn about a variety of financing options from local lenders and government agencies,” said Vallerie Morse, Small Business Administration.

Also present will be representatives from the Vermont Economic Development Authority, Vermont Community Loan Fund, Community Capital of Vermont, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Northern Community Investment Corporation.

Each will explain how their respective organization has assisted small businesses and how their loan programs work.

Attendees can meet with representatives one-on-one following the meeting.

There is no charge to attend.
