WIND GAP, PA — A 33-year-old man was charged in connection with a Feb. 7 robbery at First Northern Bank in Wind Gap, police said.
Jonathan M. Berrios, 33, was charged with robbery by threat of immediate serious injury, robbery of a financial institution, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking and terroristic threats, according to authorities.
Officers responded at about 10:57 a.m. Feb. 7 to First Northern Bank at 6663 Sullivan Trail for a reported bank robbery, police said.
Investigators said a male suspect driving a white sedan handed over a note stating that he had a gun and demanding money from a bank employee.
The suspect left with money before police arrived, according to police.
After an investigation, detectives identified Berrios as a suspect, authorities said.
On March 7, detectives learned the Pennsylvania State Police Fern Ridge barracks were investigating a robbery at a Citizens Bank in Monroe County, police said.
Authorities said Berrios was identified as a suspect in that robbery and was arrested by state police.
Investigators later interviewed Berrios, who admitted committing the robbery at First Northern Bank, according to police.
The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office approved the charges, and Berrios was arraigned on March 12, police said.
