RAHWAY, NJ — A Tobyhanna man wanted on drug and weapons charges was arrested Thursday on an active warrant.

Sean R. Persing, 36, was taken into custody by the Rahway Police Department on a warrant issued by the Pocono Township Police Department in Pennsylvania.

Persing is charged with possession of a firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and a rear lights violation.

The charges stem from an Oct. 26 traffic stop in Scotrun, Pennsylvania, conducted by Pocono Township police.

During the stop, Persing exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested following field sobriety testing.

A controlled substance was found on Persing during the arrest.

Police later executed a search warrant on the vehicle, seizing a large quantity of narcotics, drug paraphernalia consistent with distribution and a loaded firearm.

Persing was found to be a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The warrant was issued Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Kresge.

Persing is awaiting extradition to Monroe County.
