Woman fatally stabbed in Town of Tonawanda

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, NY — A 57-year-old woman was fatally stabbed at a residence on Parkhurst Boulevard on Monday afternoon.

Town of Tonawanda Police and paramedics responded to a reported stabbing around 12:30 p.m.

Officers found Anna M. Moore, of Town of Tonawanda, suffering from fatal stab wounds.

Lifesaving measures were attempted, but Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miguel A. Castro Jr., 19, of Town of Tonawanda, was taken into custody at the scene.

Police said Castro is related to the victim.

Castro is charged with murder in the second degree, a Class A-1 felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.

Castro was arraigned in Town of Tonawanda Court before Judge J. Mark Gruber and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center without bail.

He is scheduled to return to court on Thursday at 4 p.m.
