Man arrested on DUI charge in Barton

BARTON, VT — A Derby man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash early Valentine’s Day morning.

Vermont Fish and Game Wardens discovered the crash on Vermont Route 16 near the intersection of Cook Road at 1:27 a.m. Feb. 14, 2026.

Vermont State Police also responded to the scene and identified the operator as Andrew Fletcher, 21, of Derby.

Fletcher displayed multiple indicators of impairment, police said.

Following an investigation, Fletcher was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

He was driving a 2023 Nissan Rogue that sustained front-end damage in the crash.

Fletcher was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

He was transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks for processing and released on a citation.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
