Two arrested on drug charges in Union Beach

UNION BEACH, NJ — Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and paraphernalia, according to police.

Patrolman Joseph Rice observed a vehicle make an illegal turn on Front Street at approximately 12:37 a.m. on Feb. 11, 2026, and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, Justin Cote, 44, of Keyport, was found to have active warrants and a suspended license, police said.

Cote also appeared to be impaired and was arrested, according to authorities.

The passenger, Douglas Ahle, 37, of Livingston, was also found to be wanted on warrants and was arrested.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and seized methamphetamine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Sergeant Matthew Deickmann, Patrolman Ryan Fogarty and Patrolman Joseph Rice assisted in the investigation.

Cote was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession of certain drugs.

Ahle was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession of certain drugs.
