PERU, VT — A two-vehicle head-on collision on Vermont Route 11 sent four people to hospitals Sunday morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:31 a.m. near Ethan Allen Trail.
Brian Lawrence, 44, of Londonderry, was traveling south on Vermont Route 11 in a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 when he lost control of his vehicle, causing him to cross the center line.
Timothy Surdam, 62, of Nashua, New Hampshire, was traveling north on Vermont Route 11 in a 2021 Cadillac XT6.
Lawrence’s vehicle struck Surdam’s vehicle head-on, causing total damage to both vehicles.
Lawrence and Surdam sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Southwest Vermont Medical Center.
A juvenile passenger in Lawrence’s vehicle sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Kendra Surdam, 66, of Nashua, New Hampshire, a passenger in the Cadillac, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
All occupants were wearing seat belts.
The roadway was closed for a period of time while emergency personnel cleared the scene.
Paul’s Towing removed both vehicles from the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police-Shaftsbury Barracks.
The Winhall Police Department assisted at the scene.
