Man charged with murder in Henrietta

HENRIETTA, NY — Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Rochester man on a murder charge following a fatal stabbing at a hotel Jan. 31.

Deputies responded to the Extended Stay America Hotel on Commons Way at 2:52 p.m. for a report of a dispute inside a room.

When deputies arrived, they found Richard T. Leo in the room with blood on him.

Leo was detained and deputies located one person deceased from stab wounds inside the room.

Investigators and technicians responded to collect evidence and determine the events that led to the 911 call.

Deputies transported Leo to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office B-Zone Substation where he was interviewed by investigators.

Richard T. Leo, 36, of Rochester, is charged with murder in the second degree, a class A-I felony.

Deputies transported Leo to Monroe County CAP court where he is awaiting arraignment.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
